Australia welcome the Compact Terra Barrier

As members of the Commonwealth of

Nations (formerly the British Commonwealth),

the Australian Government has been working

closely with the British Authorities, seeking

information, knowledge and guidance from

our detailed physical security impact test

program. The Australian authorities were also

on the steering committee, alongside Frontier

Pitts, for the new International IWA 14 impact

test standard.

Working closely with our Australian Agent

GK Solutions, Frontier Pitts Compact Terra

Barrier has proven to be a very popular choice

in the Australian market.

In particular, numerous Compact Terra

Barriers have been installed at several

Datacentres across New South Wales. These

Tier 4 datacentres support some of Australia’s

leading corporations, financial service

institutions, government, defense, utilities, IT

and telecommunications providers.

The Compact Terra Barrier is a drop arm

barrier which has been successfully PAS 68

impact tested by an independent testing

facility using a 3.5t vehicle travelling at

30mph. The impact test was also witnessed

by the British Government.

Apprentice achieves NVQ level 3 through Cova Security

Gates continual development programme

Cova Security Gates are working alongside

Crawley College to equip aspiring fabricators

with the skills they need to thrive in the

manufacturing industry.

Completed in the workplace, the NVQ

Level 3 Fabrication and Welding qualification

allows the candidate to demonstrate

their competence, set against National

Occupational Standards in a wide range

of welding and fabrication processes. The

qualification is designed to fit into a working

environment whilst allowing the applicant to

build on the technical skills and knowledge

they have developed by completing the Level

2 qualification. The candidate works with

minimum supervision on real life projects

whilst ensuring the work meets the required

standard, thus meaning that all products have

the highest degree of engineering and quality.

In March 2015 Scott Jeffery successfully

completed his Fabrication and Welding Level

3 course.

The 36 month course resulted in Scott

qualifying as a fabricator and becoming an

integral part of the Cova production team.

He gained an in-depth understanding of the

principles of welding along with the technical

aspects which are required within the work

place and is now a highly competent fabricator.

‘We are really pleased with Scott’s

achievement and the high standard of

workmanship he has shown throughout his

training programme. Apprenticeships are

essential to anyone who wants to start out

in the industry and are a great hands-on

way of learning the trade whilst gaining the

right qualification’ Kevin Conway, Production

Manager.

Kevin studied at Crawley College before

starting his career at Cova Security Gates

as an apprentice. With continual training

and support he has progressed through the

company to become an integral part of the

management team.

Cova Security Gates continue to support

their employee’s continual development and

skill progression, whether it is expanding

on their industry qualifications, enhancing

product knowledge or developing their

business skills.
