ATG Access

Scoops Top Manufacturing

Prize

PSSA

Member News.

ATG Access has been crowned

the Manufacturing Company of

the Year at the Insider

Magazine’s annual “Made in

the NorthWest Awards.”

The company, which makes security

bollards and vehicle barrier systems,

took the main award on a glittering

night designed to showcase the region’s

manufacturing strengths. Held at the

Park Royal Hotel in Warrington, the

evening featured keynote addresses

from EEF regional director Darrell

Matthews and John Rogers, managing

director of International Safety

Products. Chris Maguire, editor of North

West Business Insider, said:

“Our economy has coughed and

spluttered back into life and the medi-

cine is manufacturing. The North West is

leading the way when it comes to mak-

ing things and the list of shortlisted and

winning companies demonstrates we’re

getting better at it and we’re exporting

our products across the world.”

Other finalists included GJD

Manufacturing, Jaguar Landrover Group,

Meltech Group, Plastic Card Services

and Precision Polymer Engineering. ATG

Access won the accolade due to“putting

the NorthWest region back on the map.”

ATG Access has continued to have great

success in both the national and

international market during the 2012-13

period. Having won the largest security

bollard tender to date, supplying the

New Doha International Airport; ATG

Access have sent several teams of

engineers to commission the site once

installed and train the onsite security

staff prior to hand over.

Other large projects have varied hugely

in scope from a local project to control

traffic flow in and out of the new St

Peter’s Square development in

Manchester to over 80 high security

road blockers

supplied to an undisclosed project in

Saudi Arabia.

Projects continue in Qatar also with the

first phase of the Heart of Doha project

won with many other having been

quoted. New markets include Brazil

where we have just announced a new

manufacturing facility, Russia where we

held a hostile vehicle mitigation seminar

to VIP contacts and Nigeria where we

received our first order for surface

mounted blockers to protect a

financial facility. The company is going

from strength to strength within the

North West region.

Due to ATG Access’s increase in export

sales and product sales over the last

year, the North West region has

benefitted through increased supplier

orders, fabrication work and also

specialist engineering work. Further

value has been brought to the North

West as ATG Access works very closely

with local universities and colleges to

bring interns into the business such as

the Manchester Business School every

year to complete final year projects to

provide students with a live business to

work with and build their commercial

experience.

The projects they undertake equip the

business with the knowledge it may

need in years to come, helping them

understand markets and product gaps

and exploit opportunities in the future.

The company also works with

apprenticeships in the North West.

One of our budding young project

managers started with ATG Access as

an electrical apprentice as did our UK

High Security Sales Manager who was

responsible for the Olympic Games

2012 project. Our recent success has

also allowed us to contribute to a

variety of North West charities and also

sponsor local sports teams. We have

even attracted visitors to the region

such as a royal visitor - HRH Prince

Charles, various international military

bodies and even appeared on BBC

Breakfast News discussing the

buoyant export market outside of the

EU. Promoting the North West region

as a hub of manufacturing and export

innovation.

ATG Access will now go through to the

Insider Made in the UK Awards, to be

held at the International Festival for

Business in Liverpool in July 2014.
