INTERVIEW
Roger Knight
Development Manager
What does your role in the PSSA
involve?
ATG Access are a member of the PSSA
and I contribute to the technical
forums with input to technical issues
and problems that the industry face
and how best to overcome them.
What’s your vision for PSSA over the
next year/ 3 years/ 5 years?
In 3 years’ time the PSSA should have
the same impact in product selection
as PAS68 did, in 5 years’ time all HVM
will be well engineered to support
clients who have a vested interest in
life cycle and life cost of products.
What exciting developments/projects
have ATG Access been working on?
ATG have recently supplied to Sydney
Opera House a special Bronze Version
of the Tele-Tele using some Bronze
Castings and matching component
to support an Architectural desire on
a very high profile site.
What’s the first thing you would do if
you were prime minister?
Fair Taxes (shouldn’t take long).
Who would you most like to meet
and why?
Bruce Lee, very interesting and so
much speculation about his ability.
Tata Steel
– back with a
bang!
There is no doubt that the London Olympics was
extremely successful for Tata Steel’s Surface Mounted
Products, however there was a slight downside. After the
Olympics there was a glut of second hand product
unofficially distributed on the UK market for HVM
products.
Rather than compete with our own products Tata Steel took the
decision to use this time to test new manufacturing processes for the
unique ‘Bi-Steel’material. This was driven in an attempt to be able to
carry multiple operations within our manufacturing facilities and so
reduce overheads and lead times.
Initial tests on the new ‘Bi-Steel’ proved successful and so several of
the products were taken for full dynamic testing.
These tests went off like a bang (literally) and were also successful and
so allowing Tata Steel Projects to be able to re-launch many of the
products, maintain the same performance specification whilst
introducing several enhanced features across the range...
So any rumours of the demise of Tata Steel’s HVM range can now be
firmly exploded!
