PSSA Newsletter - December 2018

NEWS | ISSUE 21 December 2018 – 4 – PSSA Member News Turnkey M50 P1 solution achieved with Bristorm’s latest Gate development Following demand and the need for a turnkey perimeter security solution, Bristorm have now developed a range of HVM gates tested to ASTM F2656-15 and BSI PAS 68. The Bri-RISE Gate tested to ASTM F2656-15 achieved M50 P1 rating. The manual rising arm gate is completely self-balancing allowing for easy lifting by an on-site operative; the self-balancing feature reduces the risk of injury and electrical or hydraulic failure. The Bri-RISE gate will mitigate a vehicle, travelling up to 50mph, in under 1m and it can be seamlessly integrated alongside the Bristorm ZERO Perimeter Fence. Coupled with the Bristorm ZERO and Bristorm’s own Impeder 50 HD Bollards, Bristorm are able to o er a complete P1 perimeter solution from start to nish, inclusive of emergency vehicular access points and pedestrian walkways. Need a stand-alone gate or integration with an existing perimeter fence line? The Bri-RISE gate will perform as tested when installed as an independent unit. The manual arm can also be xed in place should underground services be present; the spanning arm will bridge across this section of services eliminating the need to disrupt the surrounding infrastructure. Bristorm have now developed a range of HVM gates PSSA membership keeps growing We are pleased to welcome new members; Gatwick Construction, TiSO, Dedrone and The University of St Andrews. Gatwick Construction are an HVM installer providing a quality service to their customers. They have recently completed an installation on West eld Shopping Centre to increase their protection against a vehicle borne terrorist threat. http://gatwickconstruction.co.uk/ TiSO becomes another international member for PSSA. They are a manufacturer of physical security equipment and systems, including high security anti-ramming barriers and pedestrian gates with products installed in over 70 countries worldwide. http://tiso.global/en/ Dedrone is the rst PSSA members from airspace security to be approved. Dedrone develop sensors and software to protect against the threats from drones on perimeter security. They will also be joining us at our January industry day to give more information on this interesting and developing industry. https://www.dedrone.com/ We are also forging our rst links to bring together the manufacturing of the counter terror industry with an academic knowledge base, welcoming The Handa Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence, University of St Andrews as associate members. The Handa Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence o ers programmes of study at CPD level up to PhD looking at understanding terrorism threats and the capacity to critically assess incidents. Developing this relationship should hopefully lead to a much better strategic approach to future counter terror solutions. https://cstpv.wp.st-andrews.ac.uk/ CPNI industry day confirmed We are pleased to announce a new annual industry day event in conjunction with CPNI.
