– 4 – Newsletter sponsor: www.highwaycare.com NEWS  |  ISSUE 31 Introducing the ARX Stopper The ARX Stopper is a Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) Product, designed to slow and halt vehicles from progressing into safe zones or secure areas whether high security installations or pedestrian areas. This product holds a CPNI Vehicle Attack Standard (VADS) rating. As a two part product they are easily transported and erected in a very short period of time and can be connected together by means of chains or poles to offer maximum protection. While designed to be easily stored, transported, set up and recovered the product still offers a good level of defence whilst allowing pedestrian permeation. A minimum of three units connected with steel ropes under cable ramps offers HVM gap protection of 6m under the CPNI VADS rating. Components and build The product is split into two separate elements which are assembled by simply lifting one part of the body and slotting it into the other. Each ARX Stopper has arms with crowns situated at the end; if a vehicle comes into contact with the crown of the product, it is designed to tip and penetrate the body or underside of the vehicle to slow it down and eventually halt it. A securing bar locks the two elements of the product together by simply sliding straight through the middle of each. Anchor bars are situated within the arms of the product, to which a steel rope can be secured by a D-Shackle. This adds extra security and rigidity to the overall build. Gavin Hepburn of ATG Access and Debbie Ainscough of Crowdguard will be taking on a Kilimanjaro climb in September in aid of Stick ‘n’ Step charity. Stick 'n' Steps is a charity that enables, inspires and supports children up to the age of 25 with cerebral palsy and their families. They receive no government funding and therefore rely solely on donations and fundraising efforts. Each year Stick 'n' Step need to raise some £600,000.00 to deliver the invaluable care, support and services they offer to over 100 hundred families that attend – including Amy, Gavin’s youngest daughter. Gavin and Debbie have been training hard, completing Snowdon in May but they know they have more to go. The PSSA will be championing their fundraising campaign and hope all PSSA members and supporters can get behind their hard work and help with the target.
