PSSA Newsletter - December 2019

ISSUE 25 December 2019 | NEWS – 11 – Movers & Shakers Son returns to Zaun to Dad’s old role An experienced steel fencing industry salesman has returned to his rst proper employer – to take on the same role his dad held for many years. PSSA member Zaun has appointed Andy Holloway as internal Sales Manager. The mesh fencing manufacturer previously employed his dad Paul for 10 years until his untimely death from a hospital-borne infection in October 2012. In tribute, Zaun named its second factory in Wolverhampton the ‘Paul Holloway Manufacturing Facility’ and also called one of its vertical railings’ products the ‘Holloway Railings’. Andy first worked for Zaun 15-years ago for two and a half years before spending the past dozen at competitor IAE in Stoke. He said: “It’s great to return to Zaun for this opportunity. My goal is to get Zaun as renowned for and synonymous with standard mesh and railing systems as it is for high security fencing. So, we have big plans for ensuring more products are available straight from stock and for being competitive on price across our entire range.” Andy is just one of four recent new starters to beef up the Zaun sales function alongside sales estimators Tom Bennett and father and son Dave and Tommy Calvin together with design and production engineer Shane Rowton. Zaun Sales and Marketing Director Chris Plimley says: “These appointments put the Zaun sales team on a stronger footing than ever. Additionally, we will be joined in January by a new external Business Development Manager. These changes to the sales team are key to driving forward our plans for continued growth coupled with ever improved customer service.” Andy Holloway returns to Zaun to take on the same role as his dad held for many years Security Manufacturer Granted US Patent for Hostile Vehicle Mitigation Bollard Yorkshire security manufacturer, Heald Ltd has been granted a US Patent for its rising bollard, known as the Evo. The US patent for the Evo is the latest patent granted for the innovative Hornsea-based rm, which was in 2018 named in the Sunday Times Maserati Top 100 as one of the greatest British innovators. With installs across the globe, Heald say that the Evo is unique. Compared to other rising bollards on the market, there is no central cylinder within the bollard contributing to its strength and durability, which has been evidenced through crash testing the product to international standard, IWA. During the crash test, it halted a 7.2-tonne truck travelling at 64 kph (40 mph) and continued to function following the impact. The US patent follows Heald previously securing GB and International Patents on the product in line with their business strategy of designing and manufacturing innovative hostile vehicle mitigation products to support their growth ambitions. Heald’s patents have led to its products being specified into several international projects. The company has also been listed in the Metis Partners IP100 listing for the past four years, ranking within the Top 10 across all categories. The Evo, which also has GB and International Patents, can be operated by a variety of methods including manual, battery drill, electro-mechanical or hydraulically providing the customer with an install method to meet their needs. Requiring an install depth of 1100mm it provides an effective and efficient perimeter security solution. Commenting on the patent grant, Managing Director Debbie Heald MBE said: “We are extremely proud of Heald’s track record in bringing innovative products to the market. Being granted a patent for the Evo in the US further adds to the credibility of our products in protecting high profile locations and pedestrians for the risk of hostile vehicle attacks. Following the success of our Matador and Raptor products in the US, we look forward to expanding our footprint in the region with installs of the Evo”.
