The Haydock firm took home the International Business Award for its hard work as one of the leading exporters in the North West. Winning the award tops off a great year for ATG Access, which has seen the bollard manufacturer celebrate ten years of export with an increase in yearly turnover of 12%. Now in its 24th year, the prestigious awards are put together by the Liverpool ECHO newspaper and the Business Post magazine, with sponsorship from Liverpool John Moore’s University. Held at Liverpool Cathedral, the ceremony was attended by hundreds of city leaders and businesses large and small from all across the region. Finding itself in a competitive group, ATG was up against wallpaper specialists Milexa and waste management firm Inciner8. In the end, ATG’s hard work and increasing international presence helped snag the win. ATG Sales Director, Gavin Hepburn, was there to collect the award along with staff members from across the company. Gavin had this to say, “It’s been a great honour to win this award and it’s a testament to all the hard work everyone at ATG has put into making us one of the top security exporters in the UK”. Not a company to sit on its laurels ATG Access is looking to make 2018 even bigger as it continues to expand into new international markets and looks to celebrate its 30th year in business. ATG’s increased turnover means that this year’s reporting figure is £17.5 million. The business’ expansion has been driven by its solid UK performance and exporting success across Europe, Asia and the Middle East, with the company now supplying it’s products to 42 counties. ATG Access scoops gold in Business Awards and announces growth in turnover. PSSA’s response to the terror attack on Parliament Square Paul Jeffrey, PSSA’s Chairman said, “The recent terrorist attack on Westminster caused injury and traffic chaos and the incident once again highlighted the need for well-designed barriers to protect critical infrastructure from hostile vehicle attack. This level of protection is very much what the Association and its members are here to provide - and the performance of the product speaks for itself. However, having said that, the protection levels for pedestrians against Vehicles as Weapons (VAW), still needs further development - both in terms of product and deployment - to provide a more holistic protection against vehicle attacks against individuals both on and off walkways. The industry as a whole can be quite proud of the success of its work over the years in critical infrastructure protection, but we should understand that the threat from terrorism will continuously change and evolve, and we need to be looking to the future to ensure that we are ready to provide protection against new threats. Fortunately, on this occasion there were no fatalities, and the alleged culprit was swiftly apprehended and subsequently charged with two counts of attempted murder. The PSSA wishes all involved in the attack a speedy recovery and we wish to praise the police and emergency services for their swift response and actions in dealing with this violent crime.”
