A key part of the programme is the provision of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) modules to organisations requiring independent briefings on HVM issues and product types. The first two modules covering Permanent and Temporary HVM solutions have been Outgoing Chairman, Simon Towers flanked by incoming Chairman, Paul Jeffrey, and newly approved HVMhub CPD presenters from Cova, Zaun, Hesco, Bristorm, ATG and Heald. developed via the HVMhub Steering Group within the PSSA. They provide a generic guide to risk assessment, product selection and sources of advice. The short (40 minute) presentations are aimed at individuals with a security role but needing some expert guidance on HVM issues and products. The PSSA’s, Rob Oliver explains, “The presentations are the result of a lot of expert input from members of the Steering Group. We believe that they will become a useful tool in explaining the intricacies of our sector to those new to the world of HVM, as well has those needing a “refresher”. Other modules will be added, in particular we are considering whether a more in depth briefing on what the different product standards are, and what they mean, might be helpful. This relates directly to our mission to encourage the use of independently tested products”. Presenters certified to deliver CPD sessions The first cadre of PSSA certified presenters have been approved. The candidates were briefed on the latest versions of the Permanent and Temporary HVM solutions presentations – and given the opportunity to ask questions and be tested on their knowledge of HVM. A set of guidelines relating to the commissioning and organisation of CPD presentations have also been adopted. Promotion of the CPD seminars will be stepped up over the Summer. Further training dates for presenters will be set to allow all PSSA members to be part of the CPD scheme.
