SPONSORS OF THE PSSA NEWSLETTER:
www.hcsecuritysolutions.comMessage from the Chairman
It has been pleasing to note that
more new members have joined
PSSA since our last newsletter was
published in February, adding
to our credibility as THE trade
association for quality providers
and installers of independently
tested high security perimeter
protection products. As word of
our organisation spreads we have
also seen a significant increase
in enquiries, of all types, from
organisations looking for assistance
with perimeter protection. This
has been particularly noticeable
since the recent terrorist attack at
Westminster which sadly resulted
in both injury and loss of life.
Since our last newsletter, we held in March, our incredibly successful,
and sold out, career development day in association with CPNI and I
would like here to thank again the CPNI team who gave us all such an
informative day. Work has also moved on with regards to revamping
the PSSA Verification scheme via our specialist sub committee and
we hope that this will conclude soon with a revised scheme that still
provides value for the end market but which is more affordable for
the participating businesses. Marketing of PSSA continues as per our
marketing plan and, as part of which, we will be exhibiting at Security &
Counter Terror Expo in May.
Finally, we are now very close to being able to make an announcement
about a major new initiative that is in the interest of our industry as a
whole but which still has a few minor issues to resolve before we can do
so. Watch this space!

INCIDENCE OF VEHICLE BORNE
ATTACKS UNDERLINES VALUE
OF PSSA
Berlin, Nice, London, Stockholm should be known as possible
stop offs as part of a backpacker’s European itinerary. As we
now know, however, these are places now associated with
vehicle borne attacks – or more precisely indicative of a rise in
the use of vehicles as a weapon.
The PSSA fields enquiries from those responsible for security
at public venues and corporate sites, who are anxious to get
the best advice and source the right Hostile Vehicle Mitigation
(HVM) products.
The PSSA values its relationship with the Centre for the
Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI), which provided a
tailored training session for members and others earlier this
year. This helps all parties to understand the nature of terrorist
threats and for products to be developed that can counter
them.
There is likely to be a growing role for the PSSA in providing
or signposting information in a time when there is an acute
awareness of the threat to property and people.
