National Security Inspectorate (NSI) will be part of the adjudicator team in the national competition for apprentice installers which takes place over the three days at IFSEC.
As it enters its 20th year, the Engineers of Tomorrow competition has been broadened to include a fire safety skills test, so the competition is aligned more closely with the new Apprenticeship Standard: the ‘Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Technicians Apprenticeship’. NSI is a founding stakeholder of the competition.
As a ‘Show Me How’ partner, NSI will also be delivering two 15 minute interactive talks on its stand, F538, on Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 June aimed at sharing company expertise about Standards, future industry initiatives and the value of independent certification.
At 11:30 installers are invited to join Mark Gallagher, NSI’s Technical Officer, for a session on ‘User-focused design of CCTV systems and NSI’s Code of Practice NCP 104’. Attendees will gain first-hand insight into the update on standards associated with video surveillance and NSI’s perspective on CCTV design and additional user requirements.
At 14:00 Mark Gallagher will give his talk on ‘Safe Automated Gate Design – How to Minimise Your Risk’. He will provide a snapshot of the common pitfalls and legal responsibilities involved with automated gate design and the effective ways in which these can be minimised for the benefit of both clients and installers/maintainers.
“IFSEC International is the must-attend event for the whole industry which has been a fixture in our diaries for over two decades and without doubt generates the largest gathering for those in the trade, and buyers and specifiers alike.” Richard Jenkins, NSI, CEO
NSI experts Tony Weeks and John Davidson will also deliver presentations in the main seminar theatres.
Tony Weeks, NSI’s Head of Technical Services will share the research findings from a new study commissioned by NSI and conducted independently by Perpetuity Research, on the potential public benefits from automating the transfer of alarm signals to Police and other emergency services.
John Davidson, NSI’s Head of Field Operations (Systems), will take to the stage at FIREX in the Expertise and Guidance Theatre at 12:05 on 20th June. The audience will hear about the most common and serious issues fire risk assessors are experiencing and the value of contracting competent fire risk assessors who have the requisite third party certification.
Richard Jenkins added: “We are delighted to be an IFSEC partner once again and encourage NSI approved companies and others to attend this progressive event and to make the most of to welcome visitors to our stand and seminars and we look forward to spending valuable time with industry colleagues old and new.”
