CERTIFICATION
CERTIFICATION SCHEME PROGRESS
To summarise my introduction we are making progress. We have a draft
certification scheme (with LPCB) ready to be ‘beta tested’, as the PSSA
we have completed an initial, successful marketing phase, and are now
getting underway with production of standards.
Our aim is for the scheme and standards to gain the absolute widest
acceptance (eventually worldwide! – why not?) Our job as the industry’s
trade association is to be the vehicle which gathers the whole industry
around the scheme and standards, convinces the most influential in the
industry to provide technical input, and so gain everyone’s support and
hence the widest acceptance.
We are currently canvassing the whole industry to determine some
consensus on what our industry standards should cover, and which are
the priority areas. This process will include a workshop or two with
representation from across the industry. Following this the real work
starts! Once we have an agreed agenda we will be forming work-groups to
thrash out the content of our new standards. Work-groups will include
representation from both inside and outside the PSSA but will need to
be led and driven by the PSSA. We will therefore soon be looking for
volunteers and know that PSSA directors and members are never
shy! My thanks, in advance.
