PSSA Certification Scheme & Standard – Pilots Planned for October 2011
A critical review by the Perimeter Security Suppliers Association Council has resulted in implementation of the Certification Scheme being postponed from its original target date in Spring 2011. Pilot assessments for vehicle security barrier systems (VSBS’s) are now scheduled to take place in October 2011. Assessments for high security fencing products are to follow closely behind in early 2012.
Following feedback from Members, PSSA Council called for further consultation & amendments to the Scheme. At its meeting held on 12th July 2011 PSSA Council endorsed a revised approach, which was then reviewed by a specially convened panel of industry experts.
The Scheme, the first of its kind in Europe, will ensure that customers can purchase high security products that are manufactured, tested and independently verified to the highest industry standards.
PSSA is continuing to develop new standards to cover ‘non-impact-rating’ criteria for VSBS’s & other high security products & welcomes proposals & input from specifiers, consultants, installers & others interested in raising professional standards in the perimeter security industry.
